Old Boots & Poppy

To My Dearest Friend, Poppy

By Ginafly, Christmas 2011

When I met you, I found a kindred spirit, a genuine lady, and a true friend. Through the years, you’ve given and amazing amount of sage advice. There’s not enough paper printed to explain to you just how important a role you play in my life. You taught me to think for myself, stand up for my beliefs, always consider the feelings of others, and carry myself with poise and grace. Your friendship, care, and concern wrap me in feelings of home, even 3000 miles away from home. I always run to you with news, questions, or just as a sounding board. As sisters, we share a gigantic stockpile of memories. Your love of glitter and glitz returned that to my life. I love that you sparkle every day. I love that you add meaning and tradition to my life. I appreciate your warmth, sense of humor, and bright outlook. I love the real, honest, and down to earth Poppy. I love the way you set boundaries without hurting others. I love the silly, crazy Poppy who speaks her mind, no matter what others might think. I love the goofy puppy mom who puts both girls in costumes every Halloween. I love how you encourage every loved one, “just to try it,” and never take no for an answer. I love how different our tastes in movies or fashion can be, yet how similar our values and hearts are. I love that you always have time for me, crisis or not. That means more than you know. I am inspired by your passion for children. For now, for always, you will be one of my very best friends. I love you. Merry Christmas 2011!
