Old Boots & Poppy

To My Dearest Friend, Old Boots

By Ginafly, Christmas 2011

Looking back over the years, I realize you might be the last “real” gentleman on the planet. I love the way you always try to steal the check, no matter where we choose to eat. I love the way your humor quietly sneaks up on me, then hits me full in the face with a huge outburst of laughter. I love the way you fit into any social situation like a chameleon. I cherish how much time I’ve spent lazily relaxing on your couch watching nonsensical movies. I love that you always volunteer to take care of any project I, for the life of me, cannot figure out. I love how much all the Gina & Ole stories make you roll with laughter. I love listening to crazy stories from your childhood or wild college days. Your hugs are amazing. They always wrap me in warmth and love, and remind me of family. I love that you clear everything with Poppy, but generally make your own choices anyway. =) I love your patience, zest for life, and how special you make me feel. It’s funny, because when I met Poppy I knew we’d end up as friends. However, I never expected the amazing friendship that you and I share. I cannot imagine a life without you in it. Your hospitality and love gave me a security that I didn’t realize I’d been missing after leaving home. I love that I can be “just me” and you love me for it. I love the crazy movie and ice cream pajama parties that would never happen with anyone else. Most of all, I love your gentle spirit, your sharp wit, and the fact that you’ve blessed my life immensely. Thank you for being there no matter what! I appreciate all you’ve given to me. I love you. Merry Christmas 2011.
